Fall wardrobe

Yesterday I swapped out all of my spring/summer clothing with my fall/winter clothing. Since we have a small closet, and I only get to use half of it, I keep my "out of season" clothes in Jake's closet. So far this is he gets older I may have to find a new place for them. As you can see, I organize all my clothes by color which makes it much easier to put together an outfit in the 5 minutes I have each morning. I really need to get out of bed earlier...but that's a whole other story.

I also change out all my shoes. I move all my summer shoes into containers that I keep under my bed.

It looks like I have room for a new pair of shoes!

Fall photos

We went to the cabin today hoping to get some nice pictures of the kids with the beautiful fall colors.

Getting 4 kids to pose for pictures is challenging...

I love DVR

I love my's one of the best inventions ever! I totally forgot the new season of Grey's Anatomy started yesterday. I remembered on Wednesday...but yesterday I forgot. Luckily I have my DVR programmed to record every episode of Grey's Anatomy, so tonight I'm watching it. I don't watch much TV at all but Grey's Anatomy is my can't miss show. I also record every episode of Oprah, but rarely watch's hard competing with Sponge Bob and North American Whitetail.

On Tuesday we celebrated out 8th wedding anniversary by going out for supper at Sander's. It was fabulous, I wish we could go there once a month...but then it probably wouldn't be so special. We were there for 2 hours. We had chicken pate, salad, wine, steak, seafood linguine and Almond Joy cheesecake for dessert.

We're going to my brother-in-laws hunting cabin on Sunday...hoping to get lots of fall pictures!

Photos of the past

The shingling project is almost done...yeah! Tim has been working on the ridge vent today, in fact he's still up there...not sure how much he can see as it's dark now. The satellite dish came down yesterday morning so we've been listening to the radio a lot.

Jake and I went exploring up in the pasture this afternoon. We were looking for dinosaur (cow) bones. Jake found two. One was real exciting because it had teeth in it! I remember digging through the rock piles up there when we were kids pretending to be archaeologists. It was so much fun, I'm sure we spent hours up there. I'm still fascinated by dinosaurs to this day.

Here are a couple pictures I snapped of some treasures from the "past"ure...

First "emergency" trip to the doctor

The school called today. Jake was swinging on the monkey bars and hit his was bleeding quite a bit and they thought I should come and check it out. When I got there he was in the office with a bag of ice on his head. He wasn't too upset...I guess he didn't even cry. I took a look at it and decided we better go to the clinic. The nurse brought us in to the exam room, cleaned it up and measured it (1 cm). After the doctor looked at it she suggested a staple may be less traumatic than shots to numb it and then stitches. As she told me this she said the word "staples" under her breath and kind of mouthed it to me as to not scare the wits out of Jake. Once we decided this would be the plan of action the nurse said loudly, "Where's the staple gun?" and "Do we need to load the staples or are they already in there?" Of course Jake hears this, sits up half way and says, "Mom, are they going to staple my head!?" I know I shouldn't have laughed, but the look on his face, and the way he said was just funny. I calmly told him it was going to be real quick, faster than a shot. He layed back down, she put the staples in and that was it. He was very brave. We went home, I gave him some Tylenol and he rested a while. We have to go back in one week to have them removed.

Unclutter and simplify

I'm trying to unclutter and simplify my much as possible anyway. I've done a few things recently that are making a small dent. First - I receive too many 100 a day. I probably only read 2 of them...or as many as my friends send me. The rest I delete. This week, instead of just deleting them, I am unsubscribing to them. No more sales notices from Banana Republic, Macy's, Crate and more recipes from Martha Stewart. Not that it's going to save me a ton of time not having to hit the delete button but it IS uncluttering my inbox!

Next - I can't believe how much stuff Jake brings home from school. The calendar, the handbook, the newsletter alone was 9 pages. I bought this nifty binder at Target to keep it all in...
And I keep it in the kitchen right next to the wine...which unclutters my head and simplifies my life if only for a moment.

Shingles, creatures and pumpkins...oh my!

Here's what went on at our house this weekend -

Tim and a friend from work started at 8am on Saturday morning and worked until dark. They were back at it today...again until dark. About 1/3 of the front is left along with the back. The garage is done. Tim may have to finish the rest on his own as there is little chance of me getting up there. We'll see what happens I guess, I might not have a choice...especially if rain is in the forecast.
Jake spent most of the weekend outside exploring. He found several creatures including a salamander named Ricky, a small frog, a barn spider, a milkweed caterpillar, dozens of worms and a grub. The spider was residing in a jelly jar until he got kicked out so the grub could move in. The milkweed caterpillar went into a container to bring to school tomorrow. We've been supposed to bring one since school started but haven't been able to find one...until now!
Ricky and Scooby being introduced -

Tim planted a large pumpkin patch this year so he could feed them to the deer. There was one orange one out there already.

Finally friday

Tonight I made the projects for our September stamp club. It's nice to have them done 2 weeks early! One less thing to worry about. Just about everything I used is from the new catalog.

Our weekend plans include golfing... if it's not raining, shingling the house...if it's not raining, mowing the lawn...if it's not raining. If it's raining I'd like to go shopping. We'll see what happens.

Sunday school starts again this Sunday. I'll be team teaching with someone else which means I only have to teach every other Sunday. I'm still working at the vet clinic Saturday and Sunday mornings except the Sundays I'll be teaching. I've been cashing and saving my vet clinic checks. I'm thinking I will spend it on Christmas gifts or this photography class I'm still trying to decide if I should take.

Tim came home from Bowman without an antelope but it sounds like they had a good time.
