Scrapbook pages

Here's what I've done so far today...

Gotta go - there's more to be done!

Family photo

I set up the tripod the other night and took some photos of ourselves for Christmas cards. I managed to get a few nice ones. It's good to be able to cross that off my list! Here's one...you'll have to wait until Christmas to see the others!

2 days off!

Yeah! I'm home from work for the next 2 days!

So far my plans are to...
  • delete/backup photos from my computer
  • scrapbook
  • plan November stamp club projects
  • clean up flowers/shrubs
  • go for a walk

Maybe I'll create something fabulous and post it later today!

Building muscle

Today was weigh-in day for week 1 of our biggest loser challenge at work. And instead of being a loser, I gained 0.4 pounds. BUT I have been working out everyday for the last 7 days...so I must be building muscle, which weighs more than fat! That's what I'm telling myself anyway. I am happy I signed up for this challenge...I would not have exercised every day otherwise, so I'm considering my $10 weekly fee my "gym membership". Whatever works!

A day in the park

The weather was fairly nice today so we took advantage of it and went to the park.

Jake is so proud of the fact that he can finally make it all the way around the climbing wall!

This thing is crazy dangerous...0nce you start spinning you cannot stop! I've seen kids go flying off of it.

We had the whole place to ourselves...I couldn't believe it. It was a good way to spend 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon!

On track

It's been 3 days since I started the Biggest Loser challenge and so far I think I'm pretty much on track. I've been working out everyday and my new video is kicking my butt. You do 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of ab work...three times in a row...without stopping. It's tough. And that's just level 1. After you can get through level 1 with ease you start on level 2...then 3. I'm thinking it will probably take me about 7 workouts before I can move to the next level. Today I did 30 minutes on the elliptical to change things up a bit and give my sore muscles a break.

It's supposed to be nice this weekend so I'm hoping I can get out and take some pictures. Then I might have something to post here besides my ramblings!

If you're looking for a nice, new to you, purse for fall there's a nifty one here!

Chicken salad

Here's my favorite chicken salad recipe. It's really good in a pita or a wrapped in a tortilla!

4 cups cubed, cooked chicken
1 cup mayonnaise
1 tsp. paprika
1 1/2 cups dried cranberries (Craisins)
1 cup chopped celery
2 green onions, chopped
1/2 cup minced green pepper
1 cup chopped pecans
salt & pepper

Mmmmmm....it's so good!

Biggest loser

Tomorrow is the start of "The Biggest Loser" contest at work. I'm not very excited about it. It means I'm going to have to commit myself and it's so much easier doing nothing. There's a lot at stake...like $1045! That's how much the biggest loser will win. I could go crazy and starve myself...probably not, I like food too much. My plan is to be really sensible about this. I'm not going to deprive myself of any food...I'll just eat less of it. I don't want to lose weight as much as I'd just like to "tone up." So, starting tomorrow, I'm going to alternate between this video, elliptical and weight training for at least 30 minutes 5-days a week. Wish me luck!

I watched a 'good in a strange sort of way' movie the other night - Running with Scissors. It's a true story about a boy who grew up with a mental mother and an alcoholic father. His father basically leaves his life and his mother gives him away to her therapist who is crazy himself. It's so strange it's hard to believe it's true. Now I want to read the book. I checked with my "reader" mother and sisters and they don't have it. I'll have to check the library.

Talked to my sister today - we're going to Neil Diamond in November! We are such dorks.

Another weekend update

Saturday night I was invited to a friends house for a Sex in the City party. It's a great, laugh out loud, kind of movie that's perfect for watching with the girls. It was a fun night - good friends, good food and good wine...and martinis - you can't have a Sex in the City party without martinis!

Sunday School was interesting this morning. We were talking about judges. I was explaining what judges did, how they help people in court. One student said, "My dad had to go to court, and some of his friends did too." Oh my. Later, I was asking them to name some bad things that can happen to people. Another student said, "I lost my pet snake in the car one time." Yikes, that would be bad! I just wonder what kinds of things the teachers at school hear...I probably don't want to know!

Going to watch 'Definately, Maybe' now.

Stamp club projects

Here are the October stamp club projects using the new Season of Friendship stamp set and Autumn Vine Designer Series Paper.

Looking forward to Friday...already!

We have such a busy week I'm already looking forward to Friday...the only day we have no plans so far! Tonight I was at the fire department taking a large group photo of all the firemen. One of them had confidence I could do this...or else they couldn't find anyone else who would - not sure. Tuesday night the three of us are going to Stomp at the Chester Fritz - I thought Jake would enjoy it. Wednesday night I'm teaching a computer class in Cavalier. Thursday night is ESP family night at the school. Friday night I'm staying HOME...my favorite place.

Weekend update

We had a pretty quiet weekend. Tim has been bow hunting most nights. I recently signed up for Netflix again. Friday night I watched The Wedding Date and tonight I plan to watch License to Wed.

Saturday night we went out for supper with my sister and her husband.

It was a nice, but late (2:30am), night. It was hard getting up this morning to clean kennels. Tim brought Jake to Sunday School...I was glad it was my Sunday off from teaching.

I worked on my assignments for the scrapbooking class I'm in. It seems no matter how much scrapbooking stuff I have...I never have just the right thing. Overall I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out though.
