Homework & Spiders

School is going well. Jake is excited every morning...and ready for bed every night. I hope it stays this way!

He had spelling words to work on tonight.

In other news, these huge spiders have taken up residence all over our deck. When I walk up or down the stairs, I walk through their webs, when I reach for the faucet to fill the dogs water dish, my hair goes into their webs, it's quite annoying. Thankfully I'm not afraid of spiders, and they are catching flies, so I just leave them be.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school...man, the summer flew by!

We had a special pancake breakfast this morning. I don't normally have time to make breakfast, it's usually just cereal.

Jake didn't want his picture taken until I said, "That's okay, I'll just bring my camera to town and take a picture of you at the school." He's quite shy so the thought of having his picture taken at the school in front of everyone made him change his mind.

He had a great day and, even though it means summer is almost over, it's nice to be back in the routine.

August Stamp Club

These are the August stamp club projects using the new Medallion stamp and new In Colors. The first one is hard to see but I cut a sheet of cork using the Big Shot and Top Note die.

Controlled Fire

A few weeks ago the local fire department came out to burn some old buildings in our yard. They use them as practice burns so when the unexpected happens they are better prepared.

We had pushed one of the buildings off of its foundation and towards the other building to move it away from a steel grain bin.

They regularly sprayed water on the grain bin to keep it from becoming too hot.

It didn't take long for the fire to grow.

Towards the end, they let Jake help run the fire hose.

It only took about 1 hour and both buildings were gone. Those guys really know what they're doing, they do a great job!

Recipe Album

I made a recipe album today inspired by this one by Cathy Zielske. I used a small album from American Crafts that uses 6x6 page protectors. I covered the album with patterned paper and used a Stampin' Up! punch for the tabs.
